Wine & Beer Tastings at Glebe House!

Woof Ruben here – a little windswept but still mildly warm down here in our cottages North Cornwall Coast on the Border between Cornwall & Devon……………….

Well my owners have been busy trying out new wines & beers for their delightful little bar hidden down in our cellar. Top favourites would appear to be a new Cornish Lager called Korev and a premium gin called Tanquerey apparently served over ice with a trendy new tonic hits the spot!

All thanks to St Austell Brewery and their Christmas tasting in Truro last week – never let it be said they don’t get out and about on behalf of their guests leaving us dogs to fend for ourselves! (Actually before you worry we were well looked after by Aunty Debbi and the twins, so don’t feel too sorry for us!)

Righto better go out and inspect the garden after the windy night and get Blake to pick up a few twigs ha ha!

Luxury Cottages at Glebe House on the Devon Cornwall Border

Good Morning Campers!

We have been enjoying some fine weather here at our holiday cottages in Devon and Cornwall and our guests seem to be having a great time. Mostly they have been enjoying the fab surfing on the beautiful nearby beaches of Bude, Widemouth & Northcott Mouth as the sea conditions have been almost perfect with gentle but challenging waves to ride (gosh I sound like I know what I am talking about!)

The smaller children have been enjoying days out at the Hidden Valley and the charming Tamar Otter Sanctuary too.

Blake and I have both been to the vets this week – I have had a little operation on my side to remove some lumps that Penny found – thankfully they are benign and nothing much to worry about, I am now sporting a big blue shaved patch on my side so don’t worry if I look odd when you see me – I am OK!!

Blake has had a little cough (going for the sympathy vote I feel) probably because he has been chewing our gate and got a splinter in his throat, silly puppy, anyway he’s  OK too, so all good here……………………..he did manage a trip to the beach yesterday and is apparently a real wuss in the sea – not a proper dog like me who can bodysurf!

Take care and keep on reading…………….Ruben Woof :) x

Ruben & Friends at Glebe House Cottages, Devon

Hello Friends

Apparently my blog is gathering followers, so thank you and I’ll try & keep them coming…..

We have been having lots of friends to stay at our dog friendly holiday cottages which has been wonderful. Marley came at the beginning of the month which was fab as he took the pressure off me from Blake – he certainly got a run for his money that week!!

The hadsome three boys! Can you spot who is who?

Another black lab came to stay with A&M at the weekend called Charlie and he is the same age as Blake so not one but two pesky puppies – we did have a wonderful walk on the beach though and they did finally wear themselves out! The owners appeared to enjoy themselves too…………..Charlie was a little naughty and ate all the lovely roast pork and then helped himself to a chocolate for pudding too!

And this week our old friend Codi is back and he is playing well with Blake too, which means I can concentrate on lying in the sun enjoying the lovely gardens my owners have thoughtfully provided!!

So off now to have a wander and check out who else is about on this sunny & hot, yes hot morning!!!

Fab Review for Glebe House Cottages in Devon

Well hello again – my owners have been delighted to find this comment left yesterday by guests staying here…………..

“It could be said that Glebe House is a place of great wonder – to simply state that it does in fact have the desired facilities and a clean & presentable interior would be an insult. It is far more in its importance to the people who have put such care & thought into every detail. I say thank you for a wonderful environment to both relax and ponder potential activity in. If someone were to ask where they would find a place to spend time whether on the Cornish border or not, Glebe House Cottages would be the first place to enter my mind!”

Wow what an accolade to receive, no wonder they are thrilled!!

Life here continues along with sunshine and a few showers but more sunshine is on its way hooray! Blake and I have been having to find shady places to lie in our lovely rural location but he does always seem to want to sit on my head! I do get a bit fed up, but he is still only young it is his 1st Birthday tomorrow so Happy Birthday Blake!

Glebe House the family friendly cottages on the Devon Cornwall border…

Blake here – thought I might try this blogging lark, so to introduce myself, I am a handsome 11 month black labrador dog living at the rather charming Glebe House Cottages which are large luxury holiday cottages in Devon but on the border of Cornwall. I live here with my distant relative Ruben ( who is getting on a bit but still keeps me on my toes) and my owners Alison & Michael.

We have lots of guests to stay in the cottages who use us to do many things including using us for their self catering holidays, visiting relatives or even celebrating their wedding here! Just last week we had a lovely  group of family & friends stay and they had their wedding in Bude and then came back here to enjoy a lovely afternoon & evening in the gardens – the food was yummy and the cake very pretty…….This week we are very full with families enjoying May Half Term week and the sun is starting to shine too so hopefully they willbe able to get down to the beach.

Righto off to bother Ruben again! Woof woof Blake out xxxxx

Royal Wedding Celebrations at Glebe House

Hello again from us all at Glebe House – the very dog friendly self catering cottages in Devon.

We had a great day celebrating the Royal Wedding last Friday and had lots of fun with our guests & friends. Some decide to dress up on a King & Queen theme which proved very entertaining!

I was much more restrained and just did the bunting thing!

We have had lots of guests staying for the Easter Holidays and the weather has been wonderful – the pool is back up & running and is warm – it has seen lots of use, so some very happy children.

Blake has been learning how to meet & greet guests but still is a little shy sometimes…………………………today he is looking a but silly though as the lawns have had weed ‘n’ feed put on them so he is looking prematurely grey/white!! Alison keeps having to wash him down which he really does not like (tee hee!) I meanwhile just stay close to the house so am unaffected – ah the wisdom of age!

Right back to my spot in the sun (not on the grass)!

Easter Holidays are here…………

Howdy Guys

Well the School holiday have begun and we are fully booked – lots of nice guests staying and a very gorgeous looking lady Weimerana too hmmmmmm…………

Anyhow back to life at GHC and our dog friendly self catering cottages – the lovely pond at the back of the house seems to have a leak causing the water level to drop making it easy for any passing herons – so we have been having fun trying to rescue all the goldfish before the Heron ate them all! The survivors are now safely installed in the fountain (carefully turned off) whilst Barry & Michael try and find the leaks………….(Alison kept well away from the mucky stuff and just offered advice from afar I noticed!!)

Lots of painting and general tidying up has been going on and I have to say the place is looking very smart - why not come and see for yourselves? Check out the special offers Bude?

Blake is finally beginning to calm down a little so my life is a bit calmer too – hooray; maybe life can get back to near normal again……………….

Four Star Cottages in Devon

Howdy Guys

A bit of a break in the old blogging, sorry about that………………….

Blake and I continue to enjoy our lives in sunny North Devon in our luxury self catering cottages. We have been busy entertaining our guests who came to stay over Half Term – they all had a blast and enjoyed themselves enormously.

The spring flowers are bursting out everywhere and the gardens are starting to look a little tidier now that Alison can get out in the sunshine to tidy them up – we love helping her and when she isn’t looking I have worked out how to push Blake into the pond ( and he gets told off not me – tee hee!)

Here we are looking very dignified and gosh isn’t he growing?

Well better go and get on with some more pruning – oh and my paw is much better thanks!

Dog Friendly Holiday Cottages near Bude

Woof, Hello Again

Phew, thankfully dreary January is over and we can look forward to Spring at last. As mentioned before the snowdrops are coming out and even the first primrose has been spotted……..

We have had some guests staying and they all seemed to have a good time and even played with Blake & I which was nice. I am suffering from a poorly paw at the moment so am relishing lots of attention and time in front of the fire (wonder how long I can spin out the sympathy vote for?)

Bookings have for our family friendly cottages have been very active and the summer holidays are filling up fast – February & May Half Term are already full and Easter is pretty booked up too – so if you are planning a break away do contact Alison as soon as you have some dates in mind. Do check us out for a last minute cottage or last minute holiday though you never know what we can do to help – especially if you don’t ask!!

Barry & Alison have been busy in the garden pruning the fruit trees – Blake really enjoyed this especially jumping in the dumpy bag full of tree cuttings and spilling them out everywhere (she who must be obeyed  was not impressed!!)-  hopefully though there will be another bumper crop this year, yummy more spiced apple chutney & plum jam!

Righto, I see the fire has now been lit so time to bag my spot in front of it before the Pesky Puppy beats me to it!

Yours limpingly
